Liam Payne died in October last year and left his latest project, 'Building the Band', unreleased, which went ahead with its screening and hit the small screen on July 9th.

In this competition, the artist appears as a judge and was joined by other names such as Nicole Scherzinger (from the band The Pussycat Dolls).

While appearing on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' on Monday, July 14, Nicole Scherzinger commented on the decision to air the project after Liam Payne's death, confessing that it brought her "bittersweet" feelings.

"We're so proud of him. He had a great time. We had a great time making this show together, and he had such a beautiful, kind soul and heart," he commented.

"We would never have continued, you know, if we hadn't had his family's blessing," he added, but he didn't stop there.

"We're very proud of him and excited for everyone to see Liam shine. It's great. We've come a long way, especially Lima and I, from 'X Facto' to One Direction, and he paved that path, so he was the perfect person to help others in the same way. And he loved it. He really believed in the bands and the show," he added.

As previously reported, Nicole Scherzinger helped form One Direction in 2010 on 'X Factor'.

In conversation with Seth Meyers, the artist also reflected on her own roots, having begun her career with a participation in the reality show 'Pop Stars.' "Seth, I just knew I loved singing. This was my passion, acting, but I didn't have the confidence," she recalled.

And if you could go back in time, what advice would Nicole Scherzingern give to her younger self? "I'd like to tell her to believe in herself more. We don't realize how powerful we really are. And I think that's important for everyone."

Liam's sister's reaction to the premiere of 'Building the Band'

Remember that when 'Building the Band' aired, Liam Payne's sister shared on her Instagram page confessing: "I'm heartbroken that he'll never get to see how amazing he is in this show. He knew he did a good job, we all said that during filming, but seeing it again, wow! You're a star, Liam, always have been and always will be."
